Mexico and the United Kingdom Sign Tourism Memorandum of Understanding
MEXICO CITY, June 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Mexico's Ministry of Tourism signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the United Kingdom's tourism agency, Visit Britain. The MOU is designed to increase tourism numbers between the United Kingdom and Mexico by facilitating the increased promotion of the two nations.
The agreement was signed by Mexico's Secretary of Tourism, Gloria Guevara and the Chairman of Visit Britain, Christopher Rodrigues CBE. Rodrigues is in Mexico as part of a delegation led by Prime Minister David Cameron.
Secretary Guevara said that international cooperation is critical in boosting tourism numbers and the industry more broadly, a key driver of the global economy.
The MOU will strengthen bilateral cooperation and allow for the increased exchange of information, case studies and statistics regarding the industry between the two countries.
In addition, it allows for the development of joint marketing strategies between the Mexico Tourism Board and its British counterpart to boost the flow of tourists and air connectivity.
Visit Britain is the national tourism agency in the UK, responsible for tourism promotion and development of strategies to improve the country's image.
