Mexican President Felipe Calderon Concludes Successful U.S. Visit

President of Mexico Felipe Calderon completed a successful trip to the United States this week that focused on environmental sustainability in Mexico and the importance of bilateral relations with the United States.
On Tuesday, May 10, President Calderon was honored by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) for his leadership in addressing climate change at both global and national levels. The UNEP awarded Calderon its 2011 Champions of the Earth prize for hosting the 2010 U.N. Climate Change Conference in Cancun, and for promoting the creation of a Green Climate Fund to help developing countries to adapt to climate change. On Wednesday, May 11, President Calderon delivered the keynote address at the 41st Annual Washington Conference of the Americas. The speech was delivered at the Benjamin Franklin Diplomatic Reception Hall of the U.S. State Department in Washington, D.C.
