Metzger Wickersham Law Firm Celebrates Its 125th Anniversary
HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Harrisburg-based personal injury law firm Metzger Wickersham is pleased to announce that 2013 marks its 125th year of business.
Metzger Wickersham traces its origin back to 1888 when Frank B. Wickersham, a Steelton, PA native and former school teacher, began the general practice of law. In 1909, Maurice R. Metzger, a native of Londonderry Township and also a former school teacher, joined Mr. Wickersham in the practice of law. In 1913, Mr. Wickersham and Mr. Metzger formed the partnership of Wickersham & Metzger. The firm changed its name to Metzger, Wickersham, Knauss & Erb in 1967 after additional attorneys joined the practice, but the law firm is most recognizably known as Metzger Wickersham.
Over the years Metzger Wickersham has attended to a broad spectrum of legal matters, representing individuals, families, estates, partnerships, corporations, governmental entities and insurance carriers. Today, the firm concentrates its practice in personal injury law, representing people who are injured because of car, truck, and motorcycle accidents, as well as workers' compensation and social security disability claimants.
"It is very special for generations to have placed their trust in our law firm," said Clark DeVere, an attorney and shareholder at Metzger Wickersham. "We have represented people from all walks of life. We have represented everyone from the infant child to the great grandparent."
"I have seen so many family, social or business connections between clients," DeVere commented. "It is really something to appreciate."
Delivering exceptional client service and maintaining an unwavering dedication to the practice of law are among the core values that have allowed Metzger Wickersham to prevail as one of Pennsylvania's most established and well-respected law firms. Metzger Wickersham is results-driven, but also strives to build solid relationships with its clients and with other businesses in the community.
"The firm wouldn't be where it is today without the trusted relationships we've developed with our past and present clients. I am proud that my entire career has been with Metzger Wickersham and we look forward to helping future generations, too," said Ted Knauss, who is also a shareholder at Metzger Wickersham. Knauss has been an attorney at the firm for 38 years.
In celebration of its anniversary, Metzger Wickersham plans to host special events throughout the year, including an informative workers' compensation seminar in the summer. The firm is also sponsoring an "Arrive Alive" contest, which encourages high school seniors to submit creative entries about the dangers of drunk and distracted driving for the chance to win a new laptop and other prizes. Contest entries are being accepted now through May 17. Visit arrivealivepa.com for details.
