MetTel Opens New Network Node in Chicago
Bringing Reliable, Feature-Rich, Disaster-Tolerant Network Closer to Clients
NEW YORK, May 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MetTel, a leading provider of telecommunications services and network solutions for enterprise and government customers, today announced the opening of its newest Network Node in Chicago, Ill. The new center adds to the service and reliability already delivered to customers by existing MetTel Network Nodes located in New York City; Dallas, Tex.; and Santa Clara, Calif.
The new Chicago point of presence -- located at the new zCOLO data center in the 600 South Federal St. building -- came online April 15 and is now fully integrated into the existing nationwide network, creating another clustered, active/active, geographically redundant location to bring all MetTel's advanced services to new and existing clients.
"We continue to grow and diversify our network to get closer to our clients and offer the most feature-rich and disaster-tolerant network in the industry," said MetTel's Vice President of Network Services Ed Fox. "We are very excited about the growth of our network and the architecture we have chosen to deploy, as it adds tremendous value for our clients."
During this period of unprecedented growth in network traffic from all types of legitimate and mal-intent sources, it's more important than ever to diversify the core of the network and spread computing resources geographically, Fox explained. The new Network Node also reduces latency within clients' networks, creating an enhanced user experience for MetTel's customers' end users. The more applications that become centralized and cloud based, the more important latency becomes to the end user's experience with their business-critical applications.
MetTel Network Nodes are interconnected with most wireline and wireless service provider networks. As a result, the company can present unique network solutions that help reduce total enterprise telecommunications costs, improve network performance and increase productivity while mitigating the customer's complete dependence on any one single carrier.
The Network Nodes load balance services and produce complete surveillance of client networks, increasing security and expediting service problem identification, notification and resolution. This ability greatly enhances disaster tolerance and recovery for MetTel clients.
"We enjoy working closely with the IT and Network teams of our clients, providing them with smart, cost-effective networks that allow them to keep their end users efficiently building their own businesses," Fox said.
In addition to the Network Nodes' continuous network management, the company's comprehensive MetOne Portal allows clients to monitor the performance of their customized networks in real-time to optimize network utilization. The portal also centralizes all customer inventory, billing and help desk functionality.
