MetroStar a winner in the Department of Health and Human Services' Consumer Health Data Aggregator Challenge
RESTON, Va., July 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- MetroStar Systems, an information technology services and consulting firm in Reston, VA, today announced that they were one of four winners in the Department of Health and Human Services' Consumer Health Data Aggregator Challenge. Applicants were tasked with using the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) standard and open application programming interfaces (APIs) to create a platform that enables users to retrieve and share their electronic health record documentation.
MetroStar Systems responded to the challenge by assembling an agile team of experts from across their eight practices areas, who developed their health app concept and business model for an app called "Locket."
"With Locket, MetroStar Systems is bridging the gap between the independently evolving industries of technology and healthcare," said Lead Designer Allie Kohr. "Our team is striving to create a more efficient healthcare experience for doctors and patients alike."
Locket will become a one-stop app for patients and healthcare providers. Patients will be empowered through smart data ownership, and providers will benefit from a suite of office management features, like appointment scheduling, paper free intake, and comprehensive patient history.
The Department of Health and Human Services; Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) judged Locket against 22 other entries from developers across the country. The ONC required applicants to provide plans for their apps which include technical specifications, business plans, and EHR vendor partners.
