Messaging Plus IP Communications Service Receives 2014 Unified Communications Product of the Year Award
Jibe Mobile's 4-Star Communications App White Labeled for Sprint Honored for Exceptional Innovation
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Jibe Mobile www.jibemobile.com, the IP communications cloud company, today announced that TMC has named Jibe's IP communications messaging service, Messaging Plus, as a 2014 Unified Communications Product of the Year Award winner. Sprint launched Messaging Plus, its RCS service powered by Jibe Mobile, in late 2013 and is now pre-loading Messaging Plus on nearly all new Android-powered smartphones. Messaging Plus has been given a 4-star rating by Android and iPhone users in Google Play and the Apple App Store.
Messaging Plus, launched by Sprint, lets Android and iPhone consumers use a single application to connect with family and friends on any wireless carrier in the United States, Canada and Mexico via text, instant messaging, group messaging, and video chat, as well as sharing of photos and videos. Messaging Plus is free and easy to install on iPhones and Android-powered smartphones in North America.
Jibe's cloud-based approach allows mobile carriers to quickly launch IP communication services. The Jibe private cloud enables operators to launch IP communication services to their own subscribers, while the Jibe public cloud provides IP communication services to subscribers not yet serviced by their mobile carrier. Jibe offers IP communications carrier clients that mobile users can download, can be preinstalled, or can be installed as the native messaging client by OEMs.
"This honor is a validation of Jibe's IP Communication Cloud and our commitment to helping carriers launch innovative consumer applications which are competitive and relevant," said Amir Sarhangi, CEO Jibe Mobile. "The industry is at a significant turning point as carriers around the world roll out Jibe's Cloud to make the major transition from circuit-switched voice and SMS to innovative IP communications for their subscribers in order to compete with OTT applications."
"As the pace of consumer demand increases for these type of innovative communications services, major telecom players will invest in more flexible, cost-effective, 'future proofed' infrastructure. Jibe's end-to-end cloud based services approach for deploying IP communications services off-network or on-network, reduces the implementation time and cost barriers caused by technology fragmentation, allowing carriers to rapidly deploy these rich services in a matter of weeks," said Sarhangi.
"I am excited to proclaim Jibe Mobile and Sprint as 2014 recipients of TMC's Unified Communications Product of the Year Award for their innovative communications service, Messaging Plus," said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. "Our judges were very impressed with the ingenuity and excellence displayed by Jibe Mobile and Sprint in their groundbreaking work on Messaging Plus."
