Messaging App, Blend, Launches Mac Desktop App To Socialize The Workplace
Originally Created For Millennials, the App Is Attracting Major Enterprise Usage from Silicon Valley Giants such as Tesla, Twitter and Airbnb Employees as a Tool for Building Office Culture
SAN FRANCISCO, March 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Group messenger app, Blend today announced that it has launched its first desktop platform for Mac, complementing the app's existing mobile and web platforms. The app recently completed a shift from a college-focused photo sharing app to reinventing the way users group chat and is entering the enterprise space for the first time after gaining traction with Tesla, Twitter and Airbnb employees.
During the last quarter of 2015, Blend rolled out on three platforms – iOS, Android and Web – and this desktop app for Mac completes the app's cross-platform and cross-device integration. The desktop application will have the same sophisticated chat features of its mobile and web predecessors, built into an attractive and intuitive user interface for private group messaging. The app is built to facilitate conversations around engaging media content, but also includes a distraction-free mode for the workplace.
Blend is appealing to employees as a tool for office culture and social communication due to its innovative design, ease of use, and emphasis on multimedia content.
"Building off the success of our millennial-focused consumer app, we're excited to see Blend taking off in the corporate setting," said Akash Nigam CEO at Blend. "Our new Mac app is a game-changer for building company culture. We're taking the enterprise functionality of Slack and pairing it with the playfulness of our mobile app, and creating a hybrid desktop app that makes daily communication and sharing content simple and fun. As we continue to expand and enhance the standard office experience in 2016, we expect an influx of corporate users."
In addition to Blend's private messaging features, the app also allows verified users, such as brands and celebrities, to create public groups for direct communication with fans and consumers. The app has already gained support from Fortune 500 companies in Silicon Valley and prominent figures, including award-winning musician Shawn Mendes and pop duo/Vine stars Jack & Jack.
