DENVER, Oct. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Placing an emphasis on user experience design, Mersive, a provider of display management and collaboration software, enlisted EffectiveUI in the redesign process of its most recent version of Solstice, a wireless collaboration software. The release of Solstice 2.0, earlier this year reset the standard for smart meeting room technology used to enhance collaboration.
With Solstice, users can walk into a meeting room and instantly connect their wireless devices – laptops, tablets, smartphones – share content and control the display, creating an instant collaboration session. For the release of Solstice 2.0, Mersive enlisted EffectiveUI to help achieve its goals of making the display on a participant's device mirror what was being displayed on the main screen, creating a more intuitive navigation and offering a futuristic, pleasing visual design.
"Mersive's goal has always been to design a product that allows people to collaborate directly with one another, not with each other's computers and devices. After all, the best technologies are nearly transparent while they are supporting humanistic pursuits," said Christopher Jaynes, founder and CTO of Mersive. "Our work with EffectiveUI to create a more intuitive navigation and visual design enhances productivity while at the same time making Solstice a joy to use. The latest version is important to our goal of enhancing the traditional meeting experience with innovative collaboration software."
In redesigning the Solstice interface, decisions were driven by designing for people and their needs, not the constraints of technology. Guided by this principle, Mersive and EffectiveUI worked in close collaboration; the EffectiveUI team created the visual design at the same time the development team at Mersive focused on their deep knowledge of user requirements and the technology infrastructure needed to support them. This co-creation effort resulted in a carefully crafted, visually appealing interface that works seamlessly with the backend functionality.
"We talk a lot about the power of co-creation and collaboration, and this project was a prime example of how that approach works really well," said Rebecca Flavin, CEO of EffectiveUI. "Our team was on-site with Mersive in their offices throughout the project, making it easy for design and development to happen in tandem, with the end result being an incredibly cohesive experience for the user."
The first version of Solstice received several industry accolades and was well adopted among businesses and top universities seeking to enhance collaboration in meetings and educational settings. The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Michigan are currently implementing large-scale deployments of Solstice on their campuses.
Solstice 2.0 was released in June 2014. For more on how Solstice works visit Mersive or watch this one-minute video. Mersive is offering a free 30-day trial of Solstice, to request a free trial, visit www.mersive.com/solstice.
