MeridianHealth Wins 2017 Medicaid Innovation Award
DETROIT, Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On October 30, the Institute for Medicaid Innovation presented MeridianHealth (Meridian) and the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine's (UIC) Coordination of Health Care for Complex Kids (CHECK) program with the 2017 Most Innovative Best Practice award in the Children's Health category at the Institute's Annual Awards Luncheon.
"It's an honor to be recognized for our positive efforts we're making with our partners at UIC. We're constantly working to provide strong member-focused care and this formal recognition is surely a reflection of our hard work," said Karen Brach, president, Meridian – Illinois.
Meridian partnered with CHECK to focus on Medicaid-enrolled children with complex medical conditions and chronic diseases to fill the gaps in service that this population faces. The joint submission, A Model of Care: Care Coordination for Complex Kids, is a program focused on reducing healthcare costs, absentee school rates, and fostering better patient and family engagement and care management.
"We believe commitment and dedication to quality care, innovative technologies, and regional customer focus will help our members get the care they deserve," said Dr. Renee Miskimmin, chief medical officer, Meridian.
