Meredith Taps WoodWing for Multi-Channel Publishing Needs of its Leading Brands
ZAANDAM, Netherlands and ANN ARBOR, Mich., March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- To position its major brands for continued growth in new digital channels, Meredith implemented WoodWing's publishing system and digital publishing tools last year. This laid the foundation for multi-channel publishing for their leading brands, including Better Homes and Gardens, Fitness and Parents. Following implementation of the new system, Meredith is now continuing with workflow re-engineering to further align with their multi-channel publishing strategies. Betty Wong, Editor in Chief of Fitness, will share her experiences at the WoodWing Xperience, taking place in Amsterdam on March 27-28.
With the decision to implement WoodWing's Enterprise system, Meredith set the stage to produce a number of its well-known titles such as Better Homes and Gardens, Parents and Fitness in a powerful and scalable multi-channel publishing environment. Leveraging the workflow benefits of WoodWing Enterprise, Meredith continues to refine its workflows to align with new business strategies and growth areas.
WoodWing´s Enterprise system, which encompasses the content management application Content Station as the all-in-one multi-channel publishing dashboard, enables the same highly regarded editorial and design teams at Meredith to create both the print and digital editions in parallel, using content shared and managed in Content Station.
"Meredith has placed a strong focus on workflows to reflect the rapid change of media technology and to tap new digital opportunities," said Penny Sullivan, Vice President Editorial Operations and Technology at Meredith. "WoodWing helps us to create multi-channel workflows which enable publishing of our content to print, to our Web sites and to multiple newsstands."
Meredith engaged Aysling Digital Media Solutions to help define and create workflows that leverage the Enterprise tool set. Enterprise and Content Station allow a high degree of workflow flexibility, facilitating the re-engineering of workflows to match the requirements of modern multi-channel publishing.
"The key to true multi-platform publishing is the production workflow cycle," said Patrick Becker, president of Aysling Digital Media Solutions. "Publishers like Meredith, who are willing and able to quickly adapt and incorporate multi-channel technology as part of their standard workflow, are the ones retaining and building their readership base and securing existing and new advertisers to grow the bottom line."
"We are delighted that our system successfully helps Meredith to address their multi-channel publishing challenges," said Shawn Duffy, Managing Director at WoodWing USA. "The clear separation between content and the various publication channels in Enterprise enables publishers to create content once and use it for print, Web, tablets, mobile and social media platforms in a highly efficient manner."
