MONTVALE, N.J., June 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Mercedes-Benz today announced the return of the Evolution Tour, the second installment of the multi-city music tour showcasing the GLA and CLA, two compact luxury vehicles designed to appeal to the next generation of Mercedes-Benz customers. Following a successful 2014 launch, this year's tour continues to highlight the intrinsic bond between music and cars. Tickets for the tour, which is produced exclusively by Mercedes-Benz, will be made available to consumers through a fully integrated social media campaign.
Kicking off in New York City on June 23, the Evolution Tour will make additional stops in Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Austin, offering a synthesis of entertainment, fashion and art. The tour will feature headlining performances by Bastille and Passion Pit in select cities as well as local talent. During the events, consumers will experience art activations by Gregory Siff and Zio Ziegler and a curated Style Factory while experiencing the Mercedes-Benz GLA and CLA models on display at each tour stop.
"Music is becoming one of the most important customer intersects at Mercedes-Benz as we reach younger customers through brand experiences," said Drew Slaven, vice president of marketing at Mercedes-Benz USA. "Last year's Evolution Tour was a big success and we look forward to continuing the momentum with exciting new talent and immersive experiences."
"'We are really looking forward to playing some shows back in the U.S. as part of the MB Evolution Tour," said Dan Smith, lead singer of Bastille. "It'll be fun to start playing people some of the new songs that we've been working on."
Concert tickets will be available through a fully integrated social media campaign at www.mbevolutiontour.com. Bastille
Combining glossy '80s synth pop and arena-friendly choruses on singles such as "Pompeii," London's Bastille sold millions of their debut album Bad Blood. The group began as the solo project of singer/songwriter Dan Smith — whose birthday is July 14 (aka Bastille Day) but became a full-fledged band in 2010 with the addition of Chris Wood, William Farquarson, and Kyle Simmons. Bad Blood sold over two million copies and helped Bastille earn a 2014 Brit Award for Best Breakthrough Act, as well as nominations for British Album of the Year, British Single of the Year, and British Group.
Passion Pit
Boston, Massachusetts-based Passion Pit released their debut album Manners in 2009. The follow-up album, 2012's Gossamer debuted at No. 4 on Billboard Top 200, leading the band to perform on Saturday Night Live and headline a sold-out Madison Square Garden. Their latest album, Kindred, was released on April 17, 2015 and includes singles "Lifted Up (1985)" and "Until We Can't (Let's Go)".
