FREMONT, Calif., Nov. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Men's Wearhouse and Kenneth Cole Productions launched the "AWEARNESS Kenneth Cole" collection in November 2015 with the mission to create tailored clothing so the modern man can "look good, for good." This Veteran's Day, Men's Wearhouse and Kenneth Cole Productions are proud to announce that the "AWEARNESS Kenneth Cole" collection generated over $870,000 in donations over a 12-month period to support two U.S. nonprofit partners: Hire Heroes USA and HELP USA. The funds, split evenly between the two charities, support their mission to assist U.S. military veterans. "Our efforts to build a product line synonymous with a charitable give back have been successful. We see this initiative as part of our continued company-wide goal of giving back to the communities in which we serve," says Scott Norris, Brand President of Men's Wearhouse and Moores.
Since the launch of the collection, a one percent contribution from all gross sales of "AWEARNESS Kenneth Cole" products sold exclusively at Men's Wearhouse have been allocated towards these charities. "This collection was created to continue our ongoing initiative to raise social awareness around the United States Military Veteran population and their transition into the civilian workforce," said Kenneth Cole, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Kenneth Cole Productions. "We look forward to the continued success of the AWEARNESS Kenneth Cole line and to continue to support our charitable partners."
The benefitting charities partnering in this mission have a strong history supporting veterans. Hire Heroes USA transforms military service into civilian success through its free, best-in-class career counseling programs and services, generating an estimated economic impact of nearly $70 million in the veteran employment space through 5,500 clients confirmed hired since January. HELP USA is one of the nation's largest homeless service providers and low-income housing developers serving at-risk populations including families, veterans, and victims of domestic violence. Among its more than 50 programs and residences, HELP USA serves more than 1,500 veterans annually, providing supportive services such as job training and employment search in addition to safe, stable housing.
On November 11, Men's Wearhouse and Kenneth Cole Productions participated in the New York City 2016 America's Parade. Produced by the UNITED WAR VETERANS COUNCIL, the parade is the largest Veteran's Day Parade in the United States. The AWEARNESS Kenneth Cole float featured military veterans and representatives from Men's Wearhouse, Kenneth Cole Productions, HELP USA, and Hire Heroes USA, as well as over a hundred marchers in support of the partnership. Kenneth Cole, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Kenneth Cole Productions, awarded Brian Stann, President and CEO of Hire Heroes USA and Marine combat veteran, and HELP USA's Jahmila Vincent, Program Director at HELP Hollis Garden Apartments, and Linson Baily Alexander, Executive Director of HELP USA's National Supportive Services for Veteran Families, with their donation checks.
