Mend Urgent Care and Mend Medical Announce In-Clinic and At-Home Testing for COVID-19 in Los Angeles Area

LOS ANGELES, March 9, 2020 /PRNewswire/ --Mend Urgent Care and Mend Medical (collectively, Mend)–a Los Angeles-based chain of Urgent Care and Primary Care Centers—today announced it will launch in-clinic and at-home coronavirus testing in response to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.  The at-home COVID-19 testing service is the first of its kind by a medical operator in Los Angeles County.

As part of the new service "Mend Home Clinic," Los Angeles residents can book an appointment with the Mend medical team to visit the home, facilitate an in-person or virtual visit with a Mend clinician, and subsequently collect specimen to send to laboratory service provider Quest Diagnostics for COVID-19 testing.

"Testing is critically important at this juncture to help control the spread of COVID-19," said Dr. Anthony Cardillo, Mend Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director.  "If you can't come to Mend to get swabbed for the novel Coronavirus, our medical team can come to you."

The new service is being launched the same day Quest Diagnostics announced it will be in position to receive specimens for COVID-19 testing under emergency use authorization (EUA) as permitted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
