Men Take Note: TOTSY Survey Reveals How Moms Really Feel About Valentine's Day
Online Survey Shows 75 Percent of Moms View Valentine's Day as Important and 40 percent of Moms Celebrate it at Home
NEW YORK, Feb. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TOTSY (http://www.totsy.com), the private sale site exclusively dedicated to delivering deals on coveted must-haves for parents, babies and kids, surveyed more than 7,500 TOTSY member moms about their expectations, sentiments and attitude on the subject of Valentine's Day. The survey found that three out of four moms consider Valentine's Day to be important, while 40 percent of respondents said they plan to celebrate this holiday at home and 23 percent said they plan to go out on the town with their loved one.
As for the question on the mind of most men when buying a gift for their loved one, take heed as there was a tie for the top gift with 26 percent preferring a spa service and 26 percent wanting jewelry. Men should beware as only 2 percent said they preferred intimate apparel as a gift for Valentine's Day.
And what are moms planning to get for their kids this Valentine's Day? Of those surveyed, toys barely beat candy and chocolates, 33 percent to 31 percent. Interestingly, 17 percent said they would not be purchasing anything for their children to celebrate this upcoming holiday.
Additional facts and figures include:
- 61 percent of moms categorize Valentine's Day as a couple's holiday; while 38 percent view it as a family holiday;
- Contrary to popular opinion, only 51 percent of moms said they would be angry if their significant other forgot Valentine's Day;
- And men should be aware they will be in the minority as only 15 percent of moms said their significant other frequently forgets or is late in celebrating the holiday.
"Though moms show their friends, family and companion love all year round, Valentine's Day is the most romantic day of the year and based upon this survey, moms expect and enjoy being shown the same in return," said Diana D. Heather, TOTSY's Chief Mom. "Sometimes becoming a mom can change the way you feel about this holiday, as more and more families enjoy including their children in their Valentine's Day celebrations. Why not find out exactly what they think and determine how we can show them they deserve the best," adds Heather.
Lastly, when asked where gifts for their loved ones and families were purchased, 39 percent said they regularly shop online and at private sales sites such as TOTSY. "The convenience of shopping online, combined with the ability to purchase quality brands at a discounted price are certainly significant factors in the increasing number of women who purchase products at TOTSY," notes Heather, who adds that TOTSY has seen increased traffic and sales leading up to Valentine's Day.
