ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. and LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif., April 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- MemorialCare Health System is among a select group of 32 employers worldwide recognized with the prestigious Gallup Great Workplace Award, the third consecutive year MemorialCare achieved this honor. Based on the most rigorous workplace research ever conducted, the award honors organizations whose employee engagement results demonstrate they have the world's most productive and engaged workforces. Award winners span the globe, representing businesses from health care to hospitality, retail to manufacturing, and banks to insurance. They average a ratio of engaged employees to actively disengaged employees more than five times the national ratio and more than 20 times the ratio of workforces globally.
Gallup Workplace Award was created to recognize companies with an extraordinary ability to create an engaged workplace culture. Companies are judged on multiple criteria, including response rates, overall engagement levels and evidence of engagement impact on performance. Applicants' results are compared across Gallup's renowned workplace research database composed of 7.5 million respondent and 965,000 work teams in 177 countries worldwide. Those organizations whose results exceed strict criteria are invited to submit a portfolio of their strategic plans and best practices. A panel of workplace experts evaluates and selects the winners.
"Every one of our 11,000 plus outstanding employees, 2,300 affiliated physicians and countless volunteers contributed to this enormous achievement," says Barry Arbuckle, Ph.D., president & CEO of the not-for-profit MemorialCare Health System, a pioneer and innovator in best practice medicine. "They have proven track records for improving lives along with performance. Each of the award recipients has shown a quantifiable impact as a result of having a more engaged workforce. They have achieved this by integrating engagement into four areas that Gallup has identified as vital to cultivating a workplace culture of engagement: Strategy and Leadership; Accountability and Performance; Communication and Knowledge Management; and Development and Ongoing Learning."
