ATLANTA, Oct. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Surgical Information Systems ('SIS'), a leader in perioperative information systems, announced today that Memorial Hospital has selected SIS Analytics as their business intelligence solution to measure and manage clinical, quality and financial performance throughout their perioperative department across three facilities. Memorial Hospital includes the Central, North, and Printers Park locations and is a member of University of Colorado Health (UCHealth), a unique Colorado-based health care system that combines community-based care and academic medicine.

Memorial replaced their Picis OR analytics and reporting solution and paired SIS Analytics with their core Cerner HIS system to provide nurses, surgeons, anesthesiologists and hospital executives with a clear view of the performance of their perioperative department and actionable information that helps them develop plans to improve processes and efficiency.
"Memorial is constantly looking for ways to improve the quality of care we provide our patients," said Susan Baldwin, Director of Perioperative Services for Memorial Hospital. "SIS Analytics gives us immediate access to the rich data in our core IS system and beyond. This intelligence will help us drive improved safety, quality, efficiency and patient satisfaction throughout our hospitals."
SIS' unique business intelligence methodology and data visualization toolset, along with their expertise in every aspect of the perioperative process, brought unparalleled value to Memorial. Immediate visibility and proven results in their Perioperative department demonstrated the solution's value to healthcare executives and prompted enterprise-wide adoption of the SIS methodology to Memorial's "self-service" enterprise business intelligence approach.
The award-winning healthcare organization now uses SIS Analytics to view, explore and measure an extensible data set from other systems, in addition to perioperative data. Memorial will expand the use of the highly-adaptive analytics platform with its implementation of Epic, where it will blend data from Epic and systems across the enterprise, making it available to SIS Analytics for sophisticated analysis -- an essential part of Memorial's strategy.
"SIS put business discovery tools into the hands of our stakeholders and decision makers and made it incredibly easy to get quick answers to the questions that matter most to them," stated Ajay Behal, Director of Business Intelligence for Memorial Hospital. "They helped us turn our BI strategy into reality throughout our enterprise."
"Access to comprehensive, actionable information is the catalyst for achieving the efficiency, quality and safety improvements that hospital leaders need to remain competitive," said Ed Daihl, CEO, Surgical Information Systems. "Memorial's results demonstrate the power of sophisticated analytics combined with perioperative know-how that you can't get anywhere else. We are honored to work with the Memorial team as they use SIS technology to continue to deliver safe, efficient, high-quality care to their community."
