Memorial Day Special on Power 92.3 FM: Atty Jeffery Leving Dedicates His Fathers' Rights Legal Hour to Our Service Men and Women
CHICAGO, May 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of Memorial Day, Attorney Jeffery M. Leving (http://dadsrights.com) dedicates his show to the soldiers and sailors that have given their lives in defense of our country. Listeners can tune into the Fathers' Rights Legal Hour this Saturday, May 26, at 9:00AM (CT) on Power 92.3 FM or stream live at http://power92chicago.com.
"We need to ensure the protection of the rights of our veterans as they have protected ours," said Leving. "We owe our freedoms to the brave soldiers that survived combat and returned home and an even greater debt to those who sacrificed all to protect our freedoms."
Many disabled veterans face significant hurdles in the path to obtain veterans' benefits. Disability claims from returning Afghanistan and Iraq War veterans have increased nearly 38% over veterans of earlier wars. Moreover, the most prevalent claims from Afghanistan and Iraqi War veterans – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, major depression, and Traumatic Brain Injury – are much different from the war wounds of earlier veterans. These new disabilities are much more difficult to manage and take more time and resources for recovery.
There is a strong need for advocacy and outreach as only half of the veterans who are disabled apply for VA benefits. A recent VA survey demonstrated that only 50% of veterans even know that they might be eligible for VA income benefits or for other VA benefits, such as education and health care. Just providing this critical information to veterans could, in itself, increase their quality of life.
