Memoir Reveals How to Build True Father-Daughter Relationship with God
HICKORY, N.C., June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The relationship between father and daughter is meant to be a strong, beautiful echo of God's love, and it was for author Faith Parker - until her father died. A self-proclaimed daddy's girl, Parker was lost without her father's guidance and found herself in a personal wilderness of grief and loss. But through her painful, emotional journey, she forged an even deeper, more pure relationship with her Father in Heaven.
"The Love of a Father" (published by WestBow Press) chronicles Parker's transformation from a lost little girl to a woman secure in God's kingdom. The seventh and youngest child of a pastor and his wife, Parker shares the warmth of a childhood spent in Sarasota, Fla., in a strong Christian home. She and her father created a strong bond that lasted until his death in 2005. Despite knowing Jesus at a young age, Parker did not have the same type of connection with the Lord.
This realization sent Parker into a tailspin, and she knew that her life would be full of emptiness if she did not seek the Lord. With a humble heart, she allowed God to transform her mind to focus on him instead of the world. "He developed a thirst in me water would not satisfy," Parker says. "I had no idea what to expect next as God started to unfold right before my eyes His desires for my life." It was a time full of wonder and joy - and hard truths. Parker realized she'd put her relationship with her father over that of her relationship with the Lord. "I had treasured the relationship with my father, worked hard at pleasing him, and I had not given the same respect to God," she says.
Once she had restored her relationship with God, Parker began to move forward with new commitments and new challenges, knowing the Lord was beside her every step of the way. "I gained new insight and strength to walk by faith and share the gifts He gave me with others," Parker says. She encourages others to search for the gifts and treasures bestowed to them by God, share them, and return them to the Lord. Only then, Parker believes, can you become a true disciple of Jesus Christ.
Honest and thoughtful, "The Love of a Father" is an intimate portrait of one woman's search for a stronger relationship with the Lord. Those searching for the same will find an engrossing read along with a large serving of hope.
About the Author: Faith Parker was born and raised in south Florida. She is currently a real estate broker in Hickory, N.C. Married to a retired army officer, Parker and her husband enjoy spending time with their two daughters and three grandchildren.
