TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- TrueCore Behavioral Solutions, a multi-state operator of at-risk-youth residential facilities and outpatient services, has named Mellissa Longo as general counsel. Longo brings almost two decades of legal experience focusing on labor arbitrations, mediations, settlement negotiations, collective bargaining, labor and employment issues, and employment litigations.
Most recently, Longo worked as corporate counsel for The GEO Group, a Florida-based company specializing in privatized corrections, detention, reentry and juvenile facilities.
Prior to that, she was associate counsel for Community Education Centers (CEC) in New Jersey. CEC was a private corrections company that operated residential reentry facilities, jails, and in-prison drug treatment programs in the United States and Bermuda.
"Mellissa is a welcome addition to our team and enhances our ability to bring legal matters in-house," said Steve Tomlin, TrueCore's CEO and president. "Her vast labor experience and reputation for risk mitigation is uniquely balanced by her advocacy for the youth in our care."
Longo also served the city of Hoboken, N.J. as corporation counsel, and the city of Newark, N.J. as assistant corporation counsel in the Labor & Employment section. She was also an adjunct faculty member at Seton Hall University School of Law.
Before earning a law degree, Longo worked in the financial sector holding positions with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated.
"I am very excited to join the talented team as general counsel at TrueCore Behavioral Solutions," said Longo. "I look forward to working with all of our employees and meeting the youth in our care."
