PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, April 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Meliá Hotels International welcomed its seventh establishment in the Dominican Republic, The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real with an inauguration ceremony during the annual DATE (Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange) Conference that included guests such as DR President Danilo Medina. The event marked the official launch of not only the property but the luxury vacation club Circle By Meliá as well. Additional attendees included the Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier García Fernández; the Administrative Minister of the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. José Ramon Peralta; and the Minister of Public Works and Communications of the DR, Mr. Gonzalo Castillo.
The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real is an all-inclusive hotel with 432 spacious rooms and 108 luxurious suites, direct access to the pool, garden and private terrace, and offers 8 restaurants as well as 6 bars, the Maia Spa, a water park, a club for children and teenagers, a Fitness Studio and 7 swimming pools that occupy 19,000 sq. meters. Built with a sophisticated design, The Grand Reserve also incorporates the most advanced technological innovations to facilitate easier use of facilities and amenities to guests and members of the Círcle vacation club. In total, the property employs over 1,000 new collaborators.
"The Gran Reserve and the Club Circle by Meliá strengthen the brand and the destination and represent the highest range of the all-inclusive modality and the highest standard in resorts in the Dominican Republic," noted Álvaro Tejeda Schroder, Regional Vice President for the Americas at Meliá Hotels. "Aside from the utmost in luxury, the property was conceived as an inclusive hotel with the aim to offer reduced carbon dioxide emissions."
MHI's goal is to promote sustainable and quality growth, creating long-term relationships with strategic partners; with brands that guarantee an absolute commitment to responsible tourism, the environment, the dissemination of local culture and the contribution to cultural integration and society.
Having worked with DR Tourism since 1989, Tejeda noted that from the beginning Vice President Gabriel Escarrer Jaume saw the potential the brand had in the positioning of luxury tourism. In a region with a competitive financial sector, legal security, and sustainable growth that reinforces the diversity of the luxury offerings, Meliá Hotels International strives to additionally highlight the local culture, the gastronomy, and the natural attractions. With the introduction of The Grand Reserve, MHI increases its presence to 7 hotels totaling 4,000 rooms, a Shopping Center alongside the Cocotal Residential & Golf Club, and a team of 7,000 employees. Stemming over the past 30 years, Meliá is proud to showcase their strong bond with the Dominican Republic – specifically Punta Cana – whose excellent conditions for holiday tourism have encouraged several new project launches with great success.
Notable moments during DATE 2019 include Mr. Tejeda's revalidation of Mr. Gabriel Escarrer's vision and commitment to Punta Cana, President Danilo Medina's official ribbon cutting ceremony for The Grand Reserve, a performance by local singer Sergio Vargas, an exhibition of art from local artist Mirna Ledesma and cocktails or bites from award-winning chefs and mixologists.
