Meijer to Provide Customers with a 'Sneak Peek' at Holiday Ads
Black Friday and Other Holiday Ads can be Previewed Online Several Days Before They Go Public
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Nov. 11, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- As customers prepare to launch into holiday shopping mode, Midwest supercenter chain Meijer is making it easier for shoppers to plan their strategy by allowing customers to see holiday ads in advance. The announcement was made today by Jeff Handler, senior vice president of marketing for the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer.
"This is just one more way to make the holidays easier for our customers," said Handler. "Several years ago, Meijer set the trend by proactively releasing our Black Friday door buster ads several weeks in advance. Providing the opportunity to see our holiday sales early is just another way for us to make the season fun, not stressful, for our customers."
The new advertising preview program includes the release of Meijer's Black Friday ad, which will be available for customers to see online beginning this Friday, November 12. Most other holiday ads will be available for preview three days before they are available to the public. Meijer's ads for Thanksgiving Day and the Saturday and Sunday following Black Friday will be available for preview on Wednesday, November 17.
Customers who currently receive e-mail alerts from the company, as well as all 100,000+ Meijer Facebook fans and Twitter followers, can access the ad preview site by clicking on a link provided by Meijer. Anyone wishing to receive access to the ad previews can go to www.connect.Meijer.com and register by signing up for e-mail alerts or connecting via Facebook or Twitter.
The holiday ads available to customers to view in advance will include all of Meijer's weekly sales and specials, including grocery, Meijer "Super Sales," Toy Guides and Home Guides. While customers can see the ads prior to distribution, the preview does not change the effective date of the advertised products.
