MegaTV to Commemorate the 10th Anniversary of September 11 With a Moving Special in Two Parts: "9/11: The day that changed the world"
---The special will be presented by journalist Allan Villafana---
MIAMI, Sept. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MegaTV announced its coverage plans today of the 10th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11. On Thursday, September 8th and Friday, September 9th, at 8 p.m. (ET) – 7 p.m. (CT), MegaTV will broadcast a special two-part program entitled, "9/11: The day that changed the world," produced by investigative journalist Allan Villafana – and filmed in its entirety from inside the city of New York, at what is now the construction site of the new World Trade Center.
The special reports present details and offer information never seen before on television in Spanish on the reconstruction of the so-called 'Ground Zero,' where more than 2,800 people lost their lives on that fateful day of September 11, 2001, and where today the new Freedom Tower is being built along with the Memorial to remember the victims who died in the tragedy.
Ten years after the biggest attack suffered by the United States of America, survivors and relatives of victims look back and relive the feelings of that morning on which the specter of terrorism changed the direction of the world.
For this special MegaTV had exclusive access to the construction site of the new World Trade Center, a project valued at more than $11 billion, the most expensive in the history of the entire American continent. Renowned journalist Allan Villafana had access to the 39th floor of the new Freedom Tower, and discloses the characteristics of what many experts now consider to be the most protected building in the world.
Villafana shows TV viewers the first images of the two gigantic fountains built on the exact spot where the Twin Towers stood, and on whose bronze edges the names of all of the victims of 9/11 can be read.
"Ten years have gone by and the tragic events of September 11 have made the relatives of victims and survivors keep the flame of hope alight in their hearts. Ground Zero is rising from the ashes, and with it the best known financial complex in the world will once again have the fame of the place that once was there but disappeared in the blink of any eye. This will be the new World Trade Center," Allan Villafana notes.
"Neither the majesty of the Freedom Tower, nor the silent comings and goings of the hundreds of men rebuilding Ground Zero could keep my soul from being overwhelmed once again as on that morning of September 11th, 2001. An unforgivable crime," adds Alexis Ardines, Director of Production and Promotions at MegaTV.
The cameras of MegaTV gain exclusive access to the 9/11 Memorial, revealing in images what the site will be like that will eternally remind us of the victims of the terrorist attacks. The Memorial will open its doors to the public in September of 2012.
Among those interviewed for this series is the last human being who managed to get out the doors of the Twin Towers before they came tumbling down, as well as a survivor who is opposed to the reconstruction of Ground Zero because he feels the site is a sacred one.
The series also presents the testimony given for the first time by a Young New Yorker who watched minute by minute from the roof of his house on the tragic morning of 9/11 in the Big Apple.
Don't miss this great two-part special: "9/11: The day that changed the world" on Thursday September 8th and Friday, September 9th at 8 p.m. (ET) - 7 p.m. (CT) by MegaTV.
