About Alejandro Marcano Santelli:
Alejandro Marcano Santelli, Venezuela Caracas VenezuelaAlejandro began at GLOBOVISION as a producer and narrator of headline news, but it wasn't long before he was named the news anchor for the network. His professionalism and dedication made him the star presenter for more than 14 years, transmitting 7 hours of news every day, live. He was also known for 10 years as Venezuela's correspondent for TV and Radio Marti, narrating the news from Cuba. During this time he learned what it is to live under a dictatorship, an experience that opened his eyes to what would later occur in the politics and society of his own Venezuela.
Alejandro also achieved a high level of popularity in Caracan radio, where beginning in 2006 he enjoyed a fun and family oriented daily radio show.
Despite his professional triumphs he found himself under constant attack as part of the staff of GLOBOVISION, which was declared an enemy of the Government of President Hugo Chavez. It was for this reason that Alejandro and his wife decided to leave Venezuela, finally settling in Miami with their family on June 28, 2009. He was granted political asylum in the US in the record time of 7 days, after officially resigning from GLOBOVISION. His resignation was not accepted by the network executives, who rather granted him a one year sabbatical, from which he never returned.
Alejandro Marcano resumed his professional life in MegaTV, first on the nightly show Los Implicados, and later as official news presenter for Mega News and Mega News Nocturno. Today he forms part of the news team of "De Frente."
