MegaFest Honors Women for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Work
Faith and family festival to donate $25,000 to St. Jude
DALLAS, Aug. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MegaFest, the nation's largest inspirational family festival, will honor three women for their work with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. These Women of Purpose honorees include Monica Rabassa, Dr. Jacquie Hood Martin and Sherri E. Goodall. In addition to recognizing these women, MegaFest will donate $25,000 to St. Jude during a check presentation at the Sunday of Hope service on Sunday, August 23.
"We're excited to launch this partnership with St. Jude and help to further their mission of treating the life-threatening childhood diseases at no cost to those families impacted by these devastating maladies," said Bishop T.D. Jakes. "I thank Danny Thomas for his vision, and for the privilege to stand with St. Jude decades later to honor these remarkable women for their dedication."
Each of these women has supported St. Jude with countless hours of service. Monica Rabassa, vice president of marketing, corporate communications and public affairs for Univision Radio, has been instrumental in the growth and development of the partnership between St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Univision Communications Inc. Her passion and leadership has produced groundbreaking results, helping to raise more than $52 million for St. Jude since 2006 and making St. Jude the charity of choice among U.S. Hispanics. As founder and chairperson of the St. Jude Hispanic Advisory Council, Rabassa leads the charge to recruit Spanish-language radio stations and others throughout the Latin entertainment industry to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude.
Dr. Jacquie Hood Martin, owner of personal and professional coaching firm J. Hood & Associates, is a staunch supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She has volunteered at the FedEx St. Jude Classic, participated in the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer, and led panels for the St. Jude Celebration of Hope seminar. Martin also currently serves as vice chair of the St. Jude Sunday of Hope Advisory Committee, the hospital's faith-based initiative, through which she actively works with churches to raise funds and awareness for St. Jude through the Sunday of Hope program.
Sherri E. Goodall, community outreach manager for apparel retailer DTLR, Inc., currently serves on the advisory board for the St. Jude Celebration of Hope providing valuable feedback and insights for participating fundraising partners. Sherri has been instrumental in the partnership between St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and DTLR. In 2012, she helped to launch a fundraiser in all DTLR stores, raising more than $100,000 in three years during an annual one-month collection.
These women will be recognized during Women Thou Art Loosed at MegaFest at the following times:
