Medtech College "Hearts" Nurses
Campuses Celebrate Nurses for Delivering Quality and Innovation in Patient Care During National Nurses Week May 6-12
ATLANTA, May 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Described as art and science, the nursing profession consists of dedicated people with extraordinary interests, strengths and passions. From staff nurse and educator to nurse practitioner or researcher, they serve on the frontline of healthcare in hospitals and emergency rooms, school-based clinics, physician offices and shelters, to name a few.
"Medtech College salutes nurses, especially our nurse instructors, for their contributions to the next generation of highly trained care-givers," said Medtech Senior Director of Nursing Jennifer Cannon. "By leading the celebration of National Nurses Week (May 6-12), we honor them for delivering quality and innovation in patient care."
At the heart of nursing education, Medtech College campuses join to recognize the significant healthcare contributions of nurses and nursing students everywhere. Schools will kick-off the Week with lamp-lighting ceremonies, hold birthing simulator demonstrations with high-definition Noelle medical training mannequins, recognize top nurses from their regions, distribute "Medtech Hearts You" gifts to nursing staff, host Lunch & Learn events in conjunction with a National Nurses Week webinar, and more. The webinar on May 9 (1-2 p.m. EDT) focuses on Innovation in Nursing Practice: Are You Leading the Charge?
"Nursing is an integral element of our healthcare education focus because the skills and knowledge nurses bring to every aspect of medicine are transforming healthcare throughout the U.S. and the world," added President and CEO John L. Hopkins. "As leaders in nursing and healthcare education, all of us at Medtech College recognize and celebrate nursing professionals and aspiring students for their extraordinary accomplishments and dedication to the profession."
A rewarding career, nurses are among the healthcare profession's most in-demand care-givers. They are ranked in the Top 5 hottest jobs for growth in 2013 by Yahoo! Education, while U.S. News and World Report lists RNs as No. 2 in 2013's "100 Best Jobs." The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2012-13 Edition, forecasts continued strength for the nursing professions through 2020, with faster-than-average annual growth of 22 percent for LPNs and 26 percent for RNs.
Demand for nurses is expected to remain strong as the nation's senior population grows and healthcare becomes available to 20 million additional Americans under the Affordable Care Act.
