MedTech and BioTech Veterans Program (MVP) Reaches Fundraising Milestone
- More Than 550 Veterans Enrolled, Over Halfway to the MVP Annual Goal of 1,000 Participants
CARLSBAD, Calif., July 8, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The MedTech and BioTech Veterans Program (MVP) is pleased to announce that it has reached the first of three fundraising milestones for 2014. MVP, a 501(c)(3) fiscally sponsored nonprofit organization, provides training and mentorship to veterans and transitioning military in order to help them recareer into rewarding jobs and in the Life Sciences. Wholly sponsored by the Medical Device and Technology, Biological Technological, Pharmaceutical, and other segments within the Life Sciences Industry, the program partners with host companies for one-day recareering seminars and provides virtual mentorship and training through the MVP collaborative portal.
MVP announced today that it passed the $150,000 mark in funds raised in the first two quarters of the year, which places it one third of the way to its goal for 2014.
"Thanks to the generosity of our supporters in the life sciences industry, the MedTech and BioTech Veterans Program will be able to provide free job skills training and enrollment into Life Collaborative distance learning courses for hundreds of veterans," said Mike Grice, Chief Operating Officer, MVP. "Kinetic Concepts, Inc., Abiomed, Covidien, and Ethicon deserve special recognition for their remarkable generosity in support of those who have served our country. Because of these great companies and over a dozen other contributing firms we have been able to host over 100 veteran participants in industry sponsored recareering seminars and to double the size of the program in only six months." With 575 participating veterans, MVP is now over halfway of its goal to bring 1,000 veterans into the program by 2014.
