MedSpring Urgent Care Opens River Oaks Houston Center
Physicians available 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, offering convenience and lower costs
HOUSTON, Sept. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- MedSpring Urgent Care, a leading provider of high-quality urgent health care, today announced the opening of a new center, located at 1917 West Gray Street, two blocks east of the River Oaks Shopping Center. This marks the fourth MedSpring opening in the Houston area since March 2012. All MedSpring centers have doctors on-site from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week, including holidays.
MedSpring's River Oaks center joins three other Houston-area locations in Sugar Land, Kingwood and the Memorial area. MedSpring also announced the opening of a fifth center in December 2012 at the southeast corner of South Fry Road and Grand Parkway in Katy, near the planned Whole Foods Market.
"We are excited to expand our Houston presence with a fourth center, providing a convenient, comfortable and cost-effective alternative to the emergency room," said Jon Belsher, M.D., MedSpring's Chief Medical Officer. "In addition to high-quality medical care, patients can expect a relaxing atmosphere with unique amenities including complimentary snacks and beverages, in-room televisions and activities for children."
On-site digital x-ray and lab facilities assist MedSpring physicians in treating a wide range of illnesses and injuries, from cuts, sprains and broken bones to coughs, allergies and infections. Walk-ins are welcome, while scheduled appointments are also available. MedSpring surveys every patient and posts all comments and reviews online, which to date have averaged ratings of 4.9 out of 5 stars.
For conditions threatening a patient's life, limb or vision, an emergency room is the appropriate setting. However, for non-life threatening issues, MedSpring provides a cost-effective and convenient alternative. Compared to the national average emergency room visit of over four hours, MedSpring visits typically last less than an hour. Additionally, while co-pays vary by insurance provider, MedSpring co-pays usually cover all services rendered, and patients can expect to pay $35 to $50, compared to typical ER co-pays of $100 to $200 or more.
Headquartered in Austin, Texas, MedSpring Urgent Care has opened five centers in Austin and four centers in Houston since their 2011 debut, and plans to expand into additional markets this winter.
