MedShape, Inc. Showcases Expanded Range of Innovative Shape Memory Orthopedic Fixation Devices at The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting
Booth 4300 AAOS 2012 Annual Meeting
San Francisco, California - February 7-9, 2012
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
What:
- MedShape will be demonstrating a range of orthopedic fixation devices based on their proprietary shape memory biopolymer and super-elastic alloy technologies:
The ExoShape® Soft Tissue Fastener for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction preserves soft tissue graft orientation, provides superior graft protection, and class-leading fixation strength. The ExoShape® Teno Soft Tissue Fastener offers surgeons a simple, accurate and effective fixation technique for tenodesis and tendon transfer procedures in the extremities.
The Morphix® Suture Anchor is a PEEK Altera® device that provides secure fixation of suture to bone in a wide range of soft tissue repair indications.
The DynaNail™ Ankle Arthrodesis Nail utilizes a unique internal super-elastic alloy element to better maintain apposition of bones and provide compression across the fusion zone for a longer duration than traditional intramedullary ankle nails.
- Hands-on demonstrations of the devices and animated videos of surgical procedures will be featured at the booth.
- Medical representatives will be on site to provide answers to surgical technique questions.

What Doctors
Are Saying:
"The previous devices were good, but this is better! It's a simple concept and you really can visualize the spread/position of the tendons. The advantage to ExoShape is the comfort and confidence that I have the fixation that I should have. This is an exciting concept and it all comes back to the material and what you can do with it."
Cary Motz, M.D."[The ExoShape offers] graft protection, reduced tendon damage as well as the effectiveness of the compression against the tunnels. The PEEK material is preferred and ideal for biocompatibility and the fixation strength is a good thing. The device is simple to use."
Grant Padley, D.O."The DynaNail combines the patient compliance and early weight-bearing benefits of internal fixation devices with an external fixator's ability to keep the bones in the correct healing position and under compression for a longer period of time. The DynaNail offers a dynamic, patient friendly alternative to bulky external frames that can present significant patient care issues in the post-operative period."
Doug Pacaccio, D.P.M.
About
MedShape:
MedShape. We're what the future feels like. It all began as an audacious idea at an elite engineering school to improve outcomes around orthopedic fixation devices. Fast-forward to today and the idea has evolved into a biomaterial sciences company that fuses brilliant design with surgical expertise. Now surgeons can use the most innovative orthopedic devices anywhere - unique devices created from our shape memory biomaterials that can transform and adapt inside the body. Together, we are dramatically improving the technology of soft tissue fixation, fracture repair and joint fusions.
