MedQuist Awarded Computer-Assisted Coding and Services Contract for Cooper
FRANKLIN, Tenn., April 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MedQuist Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: MEDH), a leading provider of medical transcription services and technology-enabled clinical documentation workflow solutions, today announced that it has been awarded a contract by Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, a leading academic medical center, to provide computer-assisted coding technology and outsourced coding services.
Cooper selected MedQuist based on its ability to demonstrate both ICD-10 readiness as well as the streamlined workflow features built in to the CodeRunner™CAC technology platform – including automatic chart assignment and automatic quality assurance – which enable complete, accurate coding in a rapid, efficient manner. The addition of outsourced coding services expands Cooper's current partnership with MedQuist for transcription outsourcing services.
MedQuist's transcription solutions feed clinical documents directly into CodeRunner™CAC – speeding the coding process and helping providers to obtain reimbursement faster.
"After partnering with MedQuist to help manage our speech recognition and transcription needs and seeing CodeRunner™CAC in action, it was clear that MedQuist has the optimal mix of advanced technology, coding expertise, and knowledgeable staff to help us be completely prepared for ICD-10 as well as meet today's challenges of rising coding volumes and coder shortages," stated Marti Heesen-May, director of Health Information Management for Cooper.
"We are proud to partner with such a prestigious organization and are honored that Cooper has chosen to expand its partnership with MedQuist to include coding technology and services," says Maryagnes Marek, vice president of Coding and HIM Compliance at MedQuist. "This agreement demonstrates that MedQuist is the vendor of choice to speed revenue cycles, reduce denials and meet the complexity of the expanded code sets that ICD-10 will bring in 2013."
