Medical Asset Management, Inc. Announces Interventional Center of Excellence (ICE) Award Recipient -Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center
ATLANTA, June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Medical Asset Management, Inc. (Atlanta, Georgia), the parent company of iRCODER.COM awarded a 2014 ICE Award to Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center (San Diego, CA). The ICE Award is an annual designation of outstanding achievement in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Interventional Suite, Endovascular Lab or Operating Room. Award criterion is based on a hospital (department) exceeding an industry standard or expectation (e.g., quality, quantity, accuracy rating, compliance, best practices, etc.).
The Department of Radiology at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center received the award for achieving and maintaining "Zero Expired Inventory." Department Manager Deborah Romo says, "We have placed a lot of effort into iRCODER, which has helped us in reducing supply costs. It has made a tremendous difference in managing our expired supplies."
The radiology department utilizes web-based iRCODER.COM® and Procedure-Integrated Inventory Management System (PIIMS®) to manage inventory. The tools available through these products allow the user to monitor expired and expiring inventory on a real-time basis (including associated costs of the expired or expiring products).
Gary Burns, Principal of Medical Asset Management, Inc. says, "using this inventory tracking system allowed Chula Vista Interventional Radiology to avoid issues associated with expired inventory: inefficient management of supply purchases, waste and financial losses associated with inventory that cannot be used. A hospital wants to avoid Joint Commission violations as well as legal issues that may be associated with carrying expired products on its shelves."
PIIMS® inventory management system is an intelligence-based system that can be used as a stand-alone product or in conjunction with iRCODER.COM®. When both systems are used together, the intelligence built into both products will recognize when a device has been used in a procedure, but not charged. Conversely, it will not allow a device to be charged if not used in a procedure.
iRCODER.COM, utilizes proprietary intelligence, color-coded illustrations and Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines for timely, accurate charging of certain hospital procedures (interventional radiology, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, vascular and non-vascular). PIIMS® (Procedure-Integrated Inventory Management System) is a comprehensive web-based inventory management system that sets and monitors par levels, tracks product details and usage to keep older products in proper rotation for immediate use.
iRCODER.COM® is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia with hospitals nationwide. For more information about these products, please visit www.ircoder.com or www.piims.us.
