Medic Vision and Nationwide Imaging Services, Inc. Partner for Global Distribution of Low-Dose CT Solutions
Agreement will further expand access to cost-effective, low-dose CT imaging for healthcare organizations
MANASQUAN, N.J. and TIRAT CARMEL, Israel, Nov. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- RSNA Booth 4335 – Medic Vision Imaging Solutions, Ltd., the leading innovator of vendor-independent image enhancement solutions for low-dose CT exams, and Nationwide Imaging Services, Inc., a leading provider of high quality refurbished and used medical imaging equipment, announced today a new agreement for the global distribution of Medic Vision's flagship SafeCT, a universal 3D iterative image reconstruction system that enables substantial signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) enhancement of CT images acquired with low-dose protocols on conventional scanners. The agreement, effective November 1, 2014, will strengthen worldwide distribution of SafeCT to hospitals, imaging centers, clinics, and radiology practices utilizing CT systems that do not have manufacturer-supported low-dose capabilities and will allow Nationwide Imaging to offer cost-effective CT scanners that are capable of performing low-dose scans.
Awareness of lowering patient exposure to ionizing radiation from CT has gained global attention. While not currently mandated by government regulatory agencies, accrediting organizations such as The Joint Commission are in the process of revising standards that address dose management, monitoring and reporting. Efforts to reduce radiation dose across all of CT imaging are also supported by several organizations, including the ACR, RSNA, and the Society for Pediatric Radiology.
"With the increased awareness to reduce patient exposure to ionizing dose for all patients—and particularly pediatrics—as part of comprehensive patient safety goals, it is important that all imaging facilities have access to tools that enable CT dose optimization without compromising quality," says Eyal Aharon, CEO of Medic Vision. "Our distribution agreement with Nationwide will help enable a greater number of imaging providers, regardless of the age and brand of CT system they have installed, offer this important benefit to assure that all their patients can benefit from reduced dose."
"Facilities across the world want low-dose capabilities for their CT scanner, yet in many instances dose management tools are not available from the original equipment manufacturers for a variety of reasons, including being cost prohibitive," says Robert Manetta, CEO, Nationwide Imaging Services, Inc. "Through our agreement with Medic Vision, we can now help our customers deliver this important patient safety benefit. We are confident in the ability of SafeCT to deliver high-quality images at low dose levels for any CT scanner."
Nationwide will include SafeCT as part of their offering for all CT system sales. To support this effort, Nationwide is developing a national demonstration site, regional to the company's corporate headquarters in Manasquan, New Jersey, so that clinicians, technologists, and facility administrators can see first-hand how SafeCT generates diagnostic quality images at reduced dose levels.
