Media Opportunity - One of the smallest national parks in Canada plays host to 15,000 visitors and over 200 species of birds!

LEAMINGTON, ON, May 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - Every year, more than 15,000 birders of all levels make their way to Point Pelee National Park of Canada, one of the smallest parks in the Parks Canada network, to observe more than 200 species of migratory birds that make a stop there in May.

Over the last three decades the Festival of Birds has been an event of choice for the gathering of birders and of birds in North America. This year, the festival takes places from May 3-May 20, 2013.

On May 10 and May 13, Parks Canada is offering the media a chance to follow these birds and birders. Media representatives can also use the opportunity to receive advice from our expert, Sarah Rupert, who will lead them to the best observation points.

These special hikes will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30. p.m.

Following the hikes, Ms. Rupert will be available to the media, accompanied by Karen Linauskas,  Manager, Visitor Experience, Point Pelee National Park.
