MEDIA ALERT: SOCMA to Host Washington Fly-In Press Call
Sloan and Allmond will discuss policy priorities for member meetings with lawmakers
WASHINGTON, April 2, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Leaders from the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) will convene with members of the media via conference call on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, to announce and discuss the association's policy priorities for this year's Washington Fly-In. SOCMA President Larry Sloan and Vice President, Government and Public Relations Bill Allmond will lead the call.
Dozens of specialty chemical executives will join SOCMA for its 7th Annual Washington Fly-In, scheduled for April 29-30, 2014. With more than 100 meetings scheduled with U.S. Representatives, Senators and their staff, SOCMA members will advocate for the policies most critical to the specialty chemical industry.
Among policy priorities to be discussed are:
- Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) reform, specifically the status of the draft version of the Chemicals in Commerce Act (CICA) and the Chemical Safety Improvement Act (CSIA)
- Trade issues including Trade Promotion Authority legislation and the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill
- Status of pending Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) legislation
