MEDIA ALERT: Mayor Eric Garcetti Hosts Press Conference to Announce YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles "Get Summer" Teen Initiative
Mayor's Office, LA County Board of Supervisors and LAUSD partner with the LA Y to provide teens with free membership, meals, and part-time employment this summer
LOS ANGELES, April 21, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Mayor Eric Garcetti will host a press conference with YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles to announce "Get Summer," an initiative in which all teens, ages 12-17 years old, will have free access to all LA Y locations this June and July. In addition to offering free membership and exclusive programming for teenagers, the Y is partnering with the City and County of Los Angeles to provide local youth and young adults with part-time employment opportunities. LAUSD will also contribute free meals for all kids and teens at YMCAs within its service area.
The LA Y will begin accepting "Get Summer" enrollment at each of its branches during Healthy Kids Day® on Saturday, April 30th. A free community event, Healthy Kids Day is a national YMCA initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and families.
