Media Advisory: United States Mint Launches Great Basin National Park Quarter on June 20

WASHINGTON, June 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The public and the media are invited to join officials from the United States Mint and the National Park Service at the launch ceremony for the new America the Beautiful^® Quarters Program coin honoring Great Basin National Park in Nevada.  The ceremony will take place at the Great Basin National Park Visitor Center on June 20, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time (PT). Following the ceremony, the public can exchange their cash for $10 rolls of Great Basin National Park quarters at face value.

Coin Forum
The evening before the launch ceremony — Wednesday, June 19, 2013, from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. — the United States Mint will host a coin forum on at the Great Basin National Park Visitor Center, at Highway 487, in Baker, Nevada.  The coin forum is an opportunity for the public to express their views about future coinage, and to learn about upcoming United States Mint coin programs and initiatives.

The Great Basin National Park quarter is the 18th coin the America the Beautiful Quarters^® Program, a 12-year initiative to honor 56 national parks and other national sites authorized by Public Law Public Law 110-456.  Each year, the public will see five new national sites depicted on the reverse (tails side) of the America the Beautiful Quarters.  The United States Mint is issuing these quarters in the order in which the honored site was first established as a national site.
