Media Advisory: NBAA Provides One-Stop Highlight List for 2014 Convention

WASHINGTON, Oct. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As the calendar counts down to the start of the National Business Aviation Association's (NBAA's) 2014 Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA2014), which will take place at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando, FL from Oct. 21 to 23, show organizers anticipate another exciting and productive gathering for the global business aviation community.
This year's event continues the strong tradition of past NBAA conventions in featuring a robust slate of informative education sessions and product demonstrations, discussions regarding the current and future needs of the industry and insightful presentations by distinguished representatives from industry and government.
Approximately 25,000 business aviation industry professionals from around the world are expected to attend NBAA2014. Attendees will have the opportunity to review 1,100 indoor exhibits featuring the latest in business aviation products, technologies and services, and participate in dozens of education and maintenance and operations sessions.
The following are among the highlights of NBAA2014:
MONDAY, OCT. 20, 2014
- Media Day, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: OCCC, Exhibit Hall North
The NBAA convention is traditionally the site of the biggest product and service announcements of the year, as well as updates on industry advocacy efforts. Several dozen manufacturers and service providers plan to make announcements on Media Day, and throughout NBAA2014. View the list of scheduled press conferences.
TUESDAY, OCT. 21, 2014
- No Plane No Gain Media Kickoff Breakfast, 7:15 to 8:15 a.m.
Location: OCCC, Exhibit Hall South B
NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen and General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) President and CEO Peter Bunce will provide an annual review of the No Plane No Gain advocacy campaign, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary, and also unveil new industry advocacy efforts. Accredited members of the media can register for the breakfast, as well as obtain access to the entire convention. Congressman William "Bill" Shuster (R-9-PA) will be a keynote speaker for the Opening General Session, discussing his work as chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, a role that includes legislative oversight of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Other distinguished guests who are scheduled to participate in the Opening General Session include: Enterprise Holdings Executive Chairman Andy Taylor, who will discuss how business airplanes have helped his company succeed, and; Christopher A. Hart, acting chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and President Obama's nominee to head that agency.
Also, NBAA's annual Al Ueltschi Humanitarian Award will be presented to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and International Jet Aviation of Centennial, CO for those organizations' work in providing children with serious illnesses the opportunity to see their communities from the air. - Indoor Exhibits of Aircraft and Aviation Products

For the first time in Orlando, the NBAA show will feature an indoor static aircraft display highlighting approximately a dozen of the industry's most innovative and dynamic light business aircraft and rotorcraft. - Outdoor Static Display
Location: Showalter Flying Service, Orlando Executive Airport
An extensive and diverse selection of approximately 100 business aircraft of all sizes will be on static display at Orlando Executive Airport, which is just 30 minutes from the Orange County Convention Center. Shuttle service is provided from the convention center to the static display. - Education Sessions

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 22, 2014
- NBAA2014 Second-Day General Session, 10:30 a.m. to Noon
Location: OCCC, South B Exhibit Hall
The Second-Day General Session will feature Edward L. Bolton Jr., the assistant administrator for NextGen at the FAA, who is overseeing development of the next-generation air traffic control system. Also speaking at the session will be Delaware Gov. Jack Markell (D), a leading advocate for aviation in his state. Following these presentations, political power couple James Carville and Mary Matalin will share their well-informed, often humorous perspectives on November's midterm elections.
Lastly, the session will include an awards ceremony honoring World War II aviator, accomplished test pilot and renowned air show performer Robert A. "Bob" Hoover for his lifetime contributions to aviation. Hoover is the 2014 recipient of NBAA's Meritorious Service to Aviation Award for 2014, one of the aviation industry's most prestigious honors. - Indoor Exhibits of Aircraft and Aviation Products

Location: Regency Ballroom, The Hyatt Regency Orlando (formerly The Peabody Hotel)This evening event to benefit the Corporate Angel Network (CAN) will feature a private concert by legendary rockers Three Dog Night, as well as live and silent auctions of donated items, from trips and vacations to aviation art and memorabilia. - Careers in Business Aviation Day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

NBAA will provide more than 200 middle school, high school and college students interested in exploring careers in business aviation free access on the last day of NBAA2014. Several keynote speakers will welcome the students, including:
1. Amelia Rose Earhart, the youngest female to have circumnavigated the globe in a single-engine aircraft
2. Paul Rinaldi, president of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association
