WASHINGTON, Sept. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- One of the most pressing issues Pope Francis will discuss during his visit to the United States is the worldwide crisis in religious freedom for people of all faiths. It is an issue with significant implications for individual human lives, for virtually every nation and for international justice and peace.
Just prior to the Pope's arrival, victims of religious persecution in Syria and China will tell their firsthand accounts, and spiritual leaders, philosophers, leaders in higher education, legal advocates and a former congressman will discuss international and domestic issues of religious freedom at a Sept. 18 conference in Washington, D.C.
