MEDIA ADVISORY: Get Covered, African American Health Alliance Releases ACA Anniversary Public Service Announcements Sign up, Spread the Word, Help Others Enroll by March 31st Deadline
These "Sign Up for Coverage" public service announcements encourage enrollment in the health insurance marketplace plans before the March 31, 2014 deadline.
WASHINGTON, March 25, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --
WHAT: Joining other Healthcare.gov Champions of Change, the African American Health Alliance released Get Covered PSAs urging enrollment by the Affordable Care Act (ACA) March 31st deadline.
Sign up, get covered, spread the word and help others sign up. Don't be left out. Don't let time run out as the March 31st deadline nears. The PSAs highlight the importance of signing up for coverage that provides access to medical and prevention benefits through the health insurance marketplace. The PSA effort responds to the fact that among the leading causes of illness and death including cancer, heart disease, HIV/AIDS, stroke and diabetes African Americans and other communities of color are among the hardest hit. The majority of these conditions are preventable, treatable and manageable with early detection and appropriate treatment and management. The key is getting the quality affordable, culturally and linguistically appropriate care provided for by the ACA.
As the nation marks ACA's fourth anniversary, the African American Health Alliance (AAHA) and the Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities Coalition (REHDC) applaud expansions in coverage, access to prevention services and the many other ACA advances. A Champion for Coverage, AAHA has dedicated its website to ACA awareness and enrollment, visit africanamericanhealthalliance.org. AAHA and REHDC are proud of the provisions they help champion for furthering elimination of health disparities. Ms. Fredette West (Chair, REHDC and Director, AAHA) participated in President Obama's 2009 White House Summit on Health Care and Health Reform. AAHA and REHDCs work is steadfast in ACA implementation.
