Her Majesty's Consul-General to New York, Danny Lopez, invites you to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at The GREAT British Run 6K. Over 500 Brits, Commonwealth citizens, New Yorkers, and Anglophiles will run a 6K race – one kilometer for every decade of Her Majesty's reign – to celebrate British heritage on the evening of Thursday, 31 May 2012. |
Consul-General Lopez will be joined by special surprise guests to kick-off The GREAT British Run, which is sponsored by British Airways, BBC America, and Standard Chartered Bank. Striking visuals will abound as runners, dressed in imaginative British-themed costumes, compete in honour of all that is GREAT about Britain's heritage and culture. Proceeds from the event will benefit GEORGE (part of the St. George's Society) and Disabled Sports USA. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., there will be pre-race festivities, live music, photo opportunities, and prizes at the iconic Central Park Bandshell. Play Rugby USA will lead runners in pre-race warm-up activities. |
