Senators Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson Voted Against Life-Saving Background Checks Supported by 91 Percent of Georgians
ATLANTA, Aug. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Atlanta moms will join a mother who lost her son to gun violence for a back-to-school phone bank tomorrow aimed at urging Senators Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson to "take another look" at their votes against life-saving background checks on gun purchases. At the phone bank, mothers will call other moms to discuss how commonsense background checks can keep kids safe and ask them to contact the offices of both senators and urge them to change their votes.
In April, Senators Chambliss and Isakson were among those who voted against bipartisan legislation proposed by NRA A-rated Republican Senator Pat Toomey and Democratic Senator Joe Manchin that would have closed the loopholes that make it easy for criminals and dangerous people to get guns. Recent independent polls that have found that 91 percent of Georgians support background checks for all gun buyers.
