medi USA introduces M.4s® PCL dynamic brace
New rigid-frame brace treats injuries of the posterior cruciate ligament with integrated tensioning dial
WHITSETT, N.C., Jan. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Medical device manufacturer medi® announced the launch of its new orthopedic knee brace, the M.4s® PCL dynamic, a 4-point, rigid-frame brace with extension and flexion limitation for treating injuries of the posterior cruciate ligament. The M.4s® PCL dynamic construction provides reliable stabilization of the knee joint in pre-operative, post-operative and non-surgical treatments.
With its sturdy, adjustable PCL protection pad, which holds the tibia in the desired location by actively exerting pressure, and with its customizable tension dial, the M.4s® PCL dynamic protects and relieves tension on the posterior cruciate ligament with a safe and secure fit. The new brace molds to the shape of the shin bone, mimics knee movement with its Physioglide® hinge, and is comfortable to wear with its light, flat construction and non-slip pads, increasing patient compliance and boosting patient mobility.
"It is particularly helpful that I can exert force on the tibia from behind with the brace, as it is a simple mechanism," said Professor Phillip Schoettle, MD, PhD, Medical Director of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at ISAR Kliniken GmBH Munich in Germany. "The patient also understands the mode of action straight away. This means that this function also helps the patient understand why he is wearing the brace."
Unlike the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) has an intrinsic ability to heal and may regain functionality following an injury with the right therapy.
This new brace joins a full range of orthopedic, functional therapy devices. To learn more, visit mediusa.com.
