READING, Mass., Sept.16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MedHelp®, the consumer division of Physicians Interactive® (PI), today announced that its free women's health app, My Cycles, now connects to Apple's HealthKit™ and offers an Apple Watch® compatible version for the recently released watchOS 2™. My Cycles is the first dedicated women's health app to stream data to both of these Apple products.
Since 2009, My Cycles has enabled women to easily track menstrual cycle patterns, fertility success rates and birth control methods – all of which Apple HealthKit now supports. HealthKit is Apple's platform for personal health data generated by third-party devices and apps, and also integrates with the Apple Health app.
"HealthKit's new support of women's health data reinforces the understanding that comprehensive health management involves much more than steps and activity tracking," said John de Souza, President of the Consumer Division of Physicians Interactive. "Period tracking is one of the earliest examples of quantified self-tracking, and My Cycles was there from the beginning as one of the first women's health apps available through the App Store. Now, by integrating Apple's HealthKit and creating an Apple Watch app on watchOS 2, My Cycles will continue to play a leading role in helping women manage their reproductive health."
My Cycles supports fertility planning and menstrual cycle tracking with advanced cycle analysis; charts for mood, weight and activity; and an easy-to-read calendar that shows predictions for the next 12 periods, fertile windows and ovulation days. My Cycles users can also tap into MedHelp's active communities for Women's Health, Fertility/Infertility/IVF and Trying to Conceive where hundreds of questions are answered every hour by other women, providing a seamless way for women to seek support and advice. With My Cycles' watchOS 2 version, users can also track their periods and ovulation cycles on their Apple Watch.
"My Cycles is part of a comprehensive suite of health resources that support women's health, including MedHelp's award-winning I'm Expecting pregnancy app," added de Souza.
