GaIn™ is the first tool specifically created to assist not only governments and NGOs, but also inform the revolution in private sector investment that is needed to protect people around the world from the effects of climate change and other global forces. The Global Adaptation Institute is a nonprofit organization guided by a vision of building resilience to climate change and other global forces as a key component of sustainable development.
"The Open Consultation process will help the Institute refine the presentation and communication of the results and insights found in GaIn™, " said Dr. Ian Noble, chief scientist at the Institute. "GaIn™ must be understandable and viewed as relevant by business executives and government leaders, not just by the specialists in the field. We want investors to put their money in developing countries that are creating the opportunities to overcome their vulnerabilities. It is about investing in people's future."
Throughout the past year, the Institute has developed Gain™ Version 1.0 in consultation with adaptation experts from around the world and the Institute's Council of Scientific Advisers. The Institute collaborates with business leaders who are ready to invest in areas that will show positive returns and assist people at risk. Before release of GaIn™ V.1.0, the Institute will ensure that reviewers from industry, government, academia and other sectors from around the world have had the opportunity to comment on the methodology, structure and use of the Index through the Open Consultation.
"The Institute highly values the viewpoints and concerns of all stakeholders," said Dr. Juan Jose Daboub, CEO, Global Adaptation Institute. "We will consider every suggestion received and constructive ideas will be incorporated into GaIn™."
"GaIn™ is a live, comprehensive, pragmatic and market-based tool that has people in need at its core. As climate and other global trends evolve, so will GaIn™," Dr. Daboub concluded.
