Mears Transportation Adds 100th Hybrid Taxi
ORLANDO, Fla., June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Mears Transportation added its 100th hybrid taxicab to its fleet. In doing so, the company continues an effort that started a year ago to transition its sedan fleet from typical fuel only consuming autos to more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly hybrid vehicles.
The company is primarily utilizing the Toyota Camry Hybrid as it ramps up efforts for a greener taxi fleet. According to published reports, the Camry has an estimated 43/39 EPA city/highway miles per gallon capability.
"The hybrid has been a huge hit", said Roger Chapin, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs for Mears Transportation Group. "Our customers like the newer vehicles, our drivers like the break at the gas pump and everyone likes the greener approach."
