MDS Releases Bedbug Local Law 69 Compliance Features
NEW YORK, Jan. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- New York based technology provider MDS Property Management Software has released a full set of features designed to help New York based property owners and managing agents efficiently comply with Local Law 69. The law, passed in 2017, requires multiple dwelling owners to track bedbug infestation history in each of their units throughout the year and to annually report back to HPD while also notifying tenants through a variety of possible methods, including the provision of the Bedbug Disclosure Form in lease renewal packages. The first deadline for reporting back to HPD is January 31, 2019.
"When we first learned of this requirement back in 2017, we immediately gave our clients the ability to track relevant bedbug information. At that time, there was no word on what tenant forms would ultimately need to be generated or what format HPD would accept," stated Jesse Friedberg, Vice President of Operations at MDS. "After learning what forms and reports the system would need to produce, we were able to quickly connect them with the data our clients had been collecting all year. We're happy to report that our users can now easily include completed Bedbug Disclosure Forms as part of a fully compliant lease renewal package without any manual intervention."
MDS Property Management Software now includes the ability to track bedbug infestations across all units in a portfolio and to produce the appropriate auto-filled Bedbug Disclosure Form and a report that makes it easy to complete the annual bedbug filing with HPD. These features are included along with a complete suite of New York compliance features with every MDS System.
