MDC Partners Enlists Dr. Sherry Cooper as Chief Economic Advisor

NEW YORK, May 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MDC Partners announced today that Dr. Sherry Cooper, renowned economist, has been enlisted to serve as Chief Economic Advisor to the company.  Dr. Cooper will serve as a consultant, providing analyses and forecasts of the domestic and global economy and financial markets to MDC Partners, its agency partners and its clients.

Dr. Cooper brings more than 35 years of economic analysis expertise to MDC Partners.  Most recently, she served as Chief Economist of BMO Financial Group, a role that was broadened to include the combined responsibilities for economic forecasting and analysis, as well as country- and industry-risk assessment for the bank's Risk Management Committee and for the Risk Review Committee of the Board of Directors.  Prior to her role as Chief Economist, Dr. Cooper directed a top-ranking economics team at BMO Financial Group, providing analyses and forecasts of the global economy and financial markets for the trading operations of the group and its retail, institutional, corporate and government clients.

Before joining BMO, Dr. Cooper led a team at Burns Fry Limited that was responsible for analyzing and forecasting Canadian and U.S. economic and financial developments in a global context for institutional and corporate clients and trading operations. There, she served as a consultant to corporate boards and foreign central banks, provided forecasts for Security Pacific National Bank and Bank of America (shareholders in Burns Fry), and led all Burns Fry's fixed income sales and research operations worldwide.

Dr. Cooper began her career at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C., where she served for over five years doing extensive research in the U.S. housing and mortgage markets, monetary policy and regulatory policy regarding the savings and loan associations and the banking system. Dr. Cooper has an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh.
