Also operating from this location will be the Ravenswood Bus Maintenance Facility Project team. The recently awarded project consists of the reconstruction of the existing Ravenswood Facility in order to accommodate new 60 foot articulated buses (which the current facility is not equipped for), storage and maintenance space for an additional 50 public transportation vehicles, and general facility updates in order to comply with all necessary building codes. The project scope includes the construction of new maintenance, fuel and wash, and operations buildings along with a 3 story parking garage. The maintenance building component of this project is to meet LEED requirements for certification. This project will require substantial planning, as public transportation operations are to remain in full effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the construction process. This $32 million contract is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.
