McKean Defense Group, LLC Creates New Divisions

PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --  McKean Defense Group, LLC today announced the creation of two new divisions based on increased growth at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane and NSWC Carderock Philadelphia.

Steve Hackforth has been promoted to Vice President and Division Manager, Integrated Fleet Services.  Mr. Hackforth's division is focused on integrating NSWC Carderock engineering services with the direct Navy Fleet support that McKean Defense also supports.  Mr. Hackforth has been a McKean employee since 2006, most recently serving as the Program Manager for the companies machinery alteration engineering program.  Prior to joining McKean, Mr. Hackforth held management positions with Ciena Corporation and defense contractors Purvis Systems and AMSEC.  Mr. Hackforth is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and had a distinguished career as an officer in the U.S Navy.

Mr. Barry Gatewood has been hired as the Vice President and Division Manager of McKean Defense's Crane division.  Mr. Gatewood has more than twenty years of experience in the defense contracting industry and the Federal government.  Most recently, he was the Program Manager for Systems Integration and Test at Alion Science and Technology. Mr. Gatewood previously held Program Management positions with NSWC Crane and the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He was also a senior engineer with Strategic Systems Programs in Pittsfield, MA and NSWC Corona. Mr. Gatewood is a graduate of Purdue University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering.
