McGuireWoods Elevates 12 Attorneys to Partnership
RICHMOND, Va., Jan. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- McGuireWoods LLP announced today it has promoted 12 attorneys to partnership level, effective Jan. 1, 2011. One-third of the new partners are of color and half are women. The partners, who span six offices and nine practice areas, include:
Jennifer Cairns (Product & Consumer Litigation – Pittsburgh) defends cases involving complex scientific and medical issues in the complex toxic tort and products liability areas. She handles mass torts, class actions, MDL-coordinated proceedings and multijurisdictional defense claims and issues, with an emphasis on the pharmaceutical industry. She also counsels clients on risk management issues, including issues related to product labeling, warnings and instructions.
Robert Florence (IP Litigation/Patents – Atlanta) practices primarily in the areas of intellectual property, patents and trademarks, and related business litigation. He is a member of the firm's Hatch-Waxman litigation team, serving as counsel in all phases of numerous ANDA cases. He handles all aspects of litigation from inception through trial and his experience includes the litigation, counseling, and prosecution of all forms of intellectual property related to a variety of technologies and industries.
Halima Horton (Labor & Employment – Atlanta) litigates and advises management on discrimination, harassment, retaliation, affirmative action, leave and accommodations, non-compete agreements, wage and hour, labor union matters and employee benefits litigation, including ERISA litigation. She has experience conducting high-level employment investigations and training managers within the United States and internationally.
Yuan-Ying Hsu (Debt Finance – Chicago) focuses on commercial finance. She represents lenders and borrowers in various debt financing arrangements, including asset-based loans, secured and unsecured credit agreements, acquisition financings, and working capital loans. She also has experience in other transactional areas, including mergers and acquisitions.
Gary Leung (IP Litigation/Patents – Chicago) represents clients in matters involving patent infringement, trademark counterfeiting, and copyright infringement. His experience also encompasses general business litigation, including the defense of class action suits for securities fraud.
Michelle Lipkowitz (Business & Securities Litigation – Baltimore) represents clients from a range of industries, including financial, retail and telecommunications, in complex commercial litigation. She handles litigation involving contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, consumer class actions, mortgage fraud, lender liability, construction, products liability, bankruptcy issues, check fraud, and claims arising under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Truth in Lending Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, and state and federal corporate, securities, commercial and consumer laws.
Julianna Lowe (Corporate III – Charlotte) practices in the areas of securities and corporate finance with a focus on transactional securities matters.
