McGraw-Hill Education and Tata Expand Partnership in Education and Professional Training
New Financial Services and English Language Training Courses Will Help Drive Development of India's Globally Competitive, Skilled Workforce
Courses Build on Success of Current Retail Sales and Service Pilot Program
NOIDA, INDIA, March 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- McGraw-Hill Education, one of the largest education companies in the world, today announced it is expanding its partnership with Tata to deliver additional professional training courses to help India develop its globally competitive workforce. Building on the success of the recently launched Tata McGraw-Hill retail sales and services pilot program, the company will offer training courses in Banking/Financial Services and English Language that help India's workers acquire the skills they need to succeed in the increasingly global economy. McGraw-Hill Education is experiencing double-digit growth in India, and Tata McGraw-Hill represents one of McGraw-Hill's most successful partnerships.
"As India continues to grow as a global economic power, the need for a skilled workforce to drive success for Indian companies and markets also continues to grow," said Harold McGraw III, chairman, president and chief executive officer, The McGraw-Hill Companies. "Our professional development courses combine high-quality educational content, digital technologies and on-the-job training to help students and workers gain a competitive advantage in India's burgeoning service-oriented economy. McGraw-Hill's digital solutions also are helping overcome the obstacles of distance and infrastructure to make education more affordable and accessible to students around the world."
Mr. McGraw announced the new courses while meeting with students in the inaugural retail sales and service class in Noida.
"The need for professional development continues to increase as the Indian economy becomes more global and diversified," said Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Group. "India's employers need skilled and knowledgeable workers, and Tata McGraw-Hill's programs are helping develop the human capital that companies need to continue to grow their businesses and drive India's economic expansion."
Tata McGraw-Hill's Certificate Course in Retail Sales and Service – launched as part of McGraw-Hill's Educational Services initiative earlier this year – is currently underway with students at CMC Academy in Noida. New classes in Hyderabad and Mumbai will be offered in the coming months. The course, which is being administered through learning centers of CMC Ltd., a Tata Group company, already has attracted the attention of leading employers who have shown interest in hiring participants upon completion of their courses later this month.
Expanding these career-training opportunities to other industries, Tata McGraw-Hill will launch a financial services course this summer, equipping participants with writing, mathematics, business development and sales skills to succeed as customer service, retail banking center and field sales representatives in the banking and financial services industry. The financial services course will empower students with job-specific skills by combining instruction and on-the-job training with leading employers in the industry. The program also includes job placement assistance for every student.
In addition to providing career-specific training courses, the Tata McGraw-Hill career development program will begin offering a supplemental English Language Training course this April. The 20-hour English language program includes instructor-led coursework, specially designed digital and print content, as well as workbook activities. The course will supplement Tata McGraw-Hill's new professional development courses, helping students gain confidence using the English language in the workplace.
"By expanding our Educational Services program into new areas of training and instruction, Tata McGraw-Hill is continuing to provide learning solutions that enable workers and employers to strengthen the financial and retail industries in India," said Ajay Shukla, managing director, Tata McGraw-Hill. "Our career development courses will help workers thrive as emerging markets like India continue to position themselves for success in the increasingly interconnected global economy."
Tata McGraw-Hill's career development programs combine educational content with digital tools and on-the-job knowledge and experience to prepare participants to address and solve real-world situations. Using simulations, video and testimony from successful subject matter experts, the courses teach participants how to succeed in a variety of India's industries.
These programs are part of McGraw-Hill Education's larger Educational Services initiative, which was created to address the need for fully customized offerings in emerging markets that go beyond content to complete end-to-end education solutions. Tata McGraw-Hill will continue developing additional professional course certification programs in India across several growing industries – including tourism, hospitality and insurance – over the next two years. In addition to these programs in India, McGraw-Hill is focused on educational services in emerging markets including China, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
